Americans love to visit places all over the world. People say America is a beautiful country with many beautiful places. And, it is. However, most Americans leave the U.S. for vacations/trips.   Why? We do this because to travel in the U.S, it is very expensive. We get “more bang for or buck” (it is cheaper for us) to travel outside of the U.S. Especially, if we want to visit a warm climate and be near the beach. Many Americans enjoy going to an “all-inclusive resort” (a hotel where all of your food and drinks are included in the price). There are not all-inclusive resorts in the U.S.

Bucket List: There is the phrase “kick the bucket” it means to die. In the US we have the term/phrase called a “bucket list” A bucket list is a list of things you want to do before you “kick the bucket” (die). Some people have a bucket list. Some people have travel bucket list.   Do you have a bucket list?

LinkedIn In the U.S. we have a website called LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a website where professionals connect. It is like a Facebook for your career. Mostly all professionals have a LinkedIn profile. You use LinkedIn to connect with people. You can’t request “friends” on LinkedIn. You request a “Connection” You say, “I’m connected with them on LinkedIn.   A recruiter (“re-cru-ter”) is a person who is hired by a company to find that company employees. There are lots of recruiters on LinkedIn that message you, wanting to talk about your skills and offer to find you a job. When you apply for a job. Many employers will “Google” your name and also check your LinkedIn profile before calling you for an interview. Your LinkedIn profile helps a potential employer learn more about you.  St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated on March 17th. The holiday is to remember Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. St. Patrick’s Day was originally a religious feast and has evolved into a day of festivals, parades, special foods, dancing, etc. Saint Patrick is recognized for bringing Christianity to the people of Ireland. It is thought that St. Patrick explained the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) using the three leaves of the Irish Clover; the shamrock. St. Patrick died on March 17th.   Saint Patrick’s Day in the U.S. In the U.S. Saint Patrick’s Day is a day of fun. People may decorate their homes, bars, restaurants with green garland, ribbon, shamrocks, the Irish flag, green top hat, pot of gold, etc. Many people wear the color green on Saint Patrick’s Day. Most often a green shirt. People may wear green beads or green top hats for fun. Everything is colored green. Often bakeries and restaurants use green food coloring to dye drinks and food green. For example, many bakeries may have green-colored bagels, cake, and/or cookies. Bars often serve green beer. As for food, Saint Patrick’s Day is associated with a meal of corned beef and cabbage. Many people make corned beef and cabbage at home or go out to eat in a restaurant. Another popular food is Irish soda bread. On Saint Patrick’s Day, many adults go out to a bar to have a drink, often a beer.

Saying “great job” means more than saying “good job”.
